HEALTH PROMOTION PROJECTS

Faux Paw The Techno Cat

One project is Faux Paw the Techno Cat. The AMA Alliance is supporting the Internet Keep Safe Coalition by training Alliance members to present this program to first through fourth graders in our areas. Contact a state or county Alliance member, or go to www.ikeepsafe.org for more information. On March 19, 2008, the UMAA received a $5000 grant from Symantec to further our efforts in this program.

S.A.V.E.

(Stop America's Violence Everywhere)
This AMA Alliance Program promotes the elimination of violence in our communities and supports those who are victims of violence.

Hands Are Not For Hitting

This is a popular Alliance program taken into the elementary schools to teach children conflict resolution skills and respect for others. The children are given a coloring book or placemat to help fortify what they have just learned.

Screen Out!

The AMA Alliance has joined forces with the Smokefree Movies Action Network in their Screen Out! Campaign. The onscreen usage of tobacco in Hollywood films poses one of the greatest threats to the long term health of American children 10 and older. Images of tobacco use in movies are influencing youth to start a deadly addiction to tobacco. To learn more about the campaign, go to www.amaalliance.org and click on Screen Out! Or, check out the new website at www.screenout.org.
